  1. I enjoyed the book. I liked Lockhart’s lean style and was utterly sucked in from the beginning, trying to piece together what was going on. In the end, though, I found the final secret to be a bit far-fetched. Also, the lack of consequences made it feel like the story was actually beginning instead of ending.

    Stephanie you are right about it beginning instead of ending. Someone in the evening group suggested that the author write a sequel about the aftermath and if any consequences. Did the patriarch leave his wealth to any or all of the daughters or to charity? Did the main character ever recover?
